During our transition to a new identity management platform, existing SU users may now use a newly formatted email address when composing an email in Gmail. The new format, firstname.lastname@su.edu, will be the default for all new SU users.
PLEASE NOTE: This is not a separate email account. It is simply an alias address linked to the same email account that you already have. For example, regardless as to whether someone sends an email to jlapp@su.edu or jason.lapp@su.edu, it will go to the same inbox.
For existing users, to find out if the new email address format has been added to your account, and if you want to switch to the new format, please complete the following steps:
1. In Gmail, go to Settings (cog upper right) > See All Settings
2. Select the Accounts tab
3. Change the default “Send mail as:” account to the firstname.lastname@su.edu account. If you do not see the new format, keep checking back as accounts are continually being updated.
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save
