Connecting Chromebooks to 1SU

This guide will walk you through the steps to connect your Chromebook to the 1SU wireless network.

NOTEA Note on Device Variation: While the visual layout of these settings may vary slightly depending on your specific Chromebook model or ChromeOS version, the required values for each field remain the same across all devices.

Connection Steps

  1. Open Quick Settings: Click on the Wi-Fi icon in the bottom-right corner of your screen (next to the battery icon).

  2. Select Network:  select 1SU from the list of available networks

  3. Configure Connection Settings: In the configuration window that appears, enter the following details exactly as shown:

    • EAP Method: PEAP

    • EAP Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPv2

    • Server CA Certificate: Select Do not check

    • Subject Match: Leave Blank

    • Subject Alternative Name Match: Leave Blank

    • Domain Suffix Match: Leave Blank

    • Identity: Enter your SUNet username

      • If you are a guest visiting for an event ask your event manager or SU sponsor for this

      • If you are a SU alumni , current SU student , faculty or staff use the first part of your SU email (everything before the @ symbol)

    • Password: Enter your SUNet password

      • If you are a guest visiting for an event ask your event manager or SU sponsor for this

      • If you are a SU alumni , current student, faculty or staff this is the same password you use to log into Hornet Hub or your SU email

    • Anonymous Identity: Leave Blank

  4. Connect: Click the Connect button at the bottom of the window.


Troubleshooting

If you are unable to connect after following the steps above, please try the following:

  • Verify Credentials: Double-check that your SUNet username and password are typed correctly (watch out for Caps Lock!).

  • Restart Your Device: Completely shut down and restart your Chromebook, then attempt the steps again.

  • Forget the Network: If you previously tried to connect and failed, right-click the 1SU network name, select "Forget," and start the process fresh.
