Commonly Used Systems Glossary

The list below provides information on some of the most commonly used systems at SU. If you have any questions about these systems, please use the contact method found within each description.


Axiom Mentor

Canvas

Canvas is the University LMS.  This is where students and faculty access their coursework. Canvas also houses some SU Organization sites. Contact: ctlt@su.edu

Classroom Technologies

Contact ACT, Academic Computing Technologies. Contact 540-665-4551 or Director Richie Crim with urgent issues. Non-urgent requests can be submitted through the IC Workorder system.

Collegiate

Collegiate is an SU system that is used for student groups. This is mainly used by the division of student life. Contact: studentlife@su.edu

Colleague / Datatel / Ellucian

Ellucian Colleague is the Universities main ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) system.  This is the system that houses all the information about faculty, students, employees, etc… Your supervisor will need to fill out the Colleague Account Request Form found on the IC Departmental Forms site in order for you to gain access.

Curriculog

Curriculog is the system that faculty use to submit new course requests and is managed by the SU Registrar.

Etrieve

Etrieve is the University's electronic forms (Central) and document repository (Content) system. Electronic versions of many forms can be found here. Contact: helpdesk@su.edu

Exxat

Exxat is a database system used by the health professions schools to track students in the clinical setting.

GSuite / Google Apps / Gmail

Google Apps is used extensively at Shenandoah University.  SU uses Google Apps for email, calendaring, file storage, and many other applications. Access to most Google services can be done through your SU Google Account.

Hornet Hub

Hornet Hub is the front end to Ellucian Colleague. This is where students go to register for classes, view class schedules, make payments etc. This is also where employees go to see their pay stubs, tax returns and perform other administrative functions.

iMLearning

The IMLearning program is the innovative 1:1 initiative here at SU. Every incoming freshman gets a MacBook Pro, an iPad Pro and an Apple Pencil.

Instructional Technologies

The Center for Teaching, Learning, and Technology provides training and support for a variety of instructional technologies.

LiveSafe

LiveSafe is an app that is provided by our Public Safety Department that is used to report suspicious persons, request safe walks, and much more.

Millennium

Millennium is a database used by the Advancement team for fundraising and alumni relations.

Office 365

Microsoft Office 365 provides eligible students, faculty, and staff with the most commonly used Office apps for MacOS and Windows. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and OneNote are all included in Office 365.

OP Reports

Short for Operational Reports, this service provides SU employees with raw institutional data. Depending on your role at the University you will have various levels of access to these reports. You must be on campus or connected via VPN to access.  Contact: helpdesk@su.edu

Panopto

Panopto is used by various schools to record lectures for students to view at a later time.
Contact: ctlt@su.edu for training and support.
Pharmacy faculty can contact Cheri Lambert.

Patron

Allows students, faculty, and staff to use library services requiring authentication.

Radius

Radius is the system used by Admissions to collect inquiries from potential students. It is the main point of contact for incoming students.

Safe Colleges

Safe Colleges hosts the mandatory HR training modules on HIPPA, FERPA, Sexual Harassment and other topics.

Self Service

Self Service is the SU Mac App Store. This program is installed on all SU issued MacBooks and provides students and employees access to SU approved applications, printers, and other services.

ShenFlex

ShenFlex is what Shenandoah University is calling the plan that allows learning to occur both in-person and online, simultaneously, if needed. If it is necessary for a student or an instructor to learn or teach remotely, they can easily do so.

Sodexo

Sodexo provides on-campus dining services for all SU students, faculty, and staff. Visit the Sodexo website for information on meal plans, hours of operation, the Sodexo Bite app, and more.

SU Go App

The SU Go app will be used at the beginning of the Fall 2020 semester to track Covid-19 symptoms and grant student, faculty, and staff access to University facilities. For information, including how to download and use the SU Go app, visit Shenandoah Go | Daily Symptom Tracking App.

StarRez

TutorTrac is a software system used by students to match up with a tutor.

Vivature & Blue Ocean Billing

VTC

VTC is short for Video Teleconferencing. VTC is used by many programs to connect classrooms across our various campuses (HPB-SPL-ICPH-MC). Used mostly by the Health Professions schools.

Weave

Weave is a reporting tool used by Institutional Research to collect institutional data.  Contact: ir@su.edu

WEPA

WEPA (Wireless Everywhere, Print Anywhere) is the system that is provided to students for printing. WEPA kiosks are located around campus and allow students to print papers from anywhere on campus, and pick them up at the kiosk.

Zoom

Zoom is a video conferencing tool used by many faculty to conduct virtual classes.  It is also used by many employees to have video conference meetings.
