Welcome to the future of academic efficiency! OIT is pleased to share some cutting-edge AI tools that have been enabled for the SU community. Best part? They're embedded in platforms you already use! Meet your new AI buddies!
Below, we've listed the AI tools currently available for use at SU, a brief introduction to each, and some helpful links to help get students, faculty, and staff started.
Google Gemini
An AI chat assistant from Google. Think brainstorming buddy, editor, and data wizard — all in one. Your queries are always secure with Google’s enterprise-grade data protections, where user submissions are never used to train models nor are ever reviewed by humans.
NotebookLM
An AI research assistant that helps you analyze, summarize, and generate content with citations from up to 50 sources. NotebookLM also includes Google's same enterprise-grade data protections as mentioned above. Think of it as a smart notebook that digests your uploaded PDFs, articles, or class notes, then answers questions and connects ideas.
For more information and user guides for Gemini and NotebookLM, please visit Google's official Gemini for Google Workspace support site.
Always remember, AI tools are only as intelligent as your input. The better you understand what you're explaining in your prompt, the better the results will be. Consider it a time-saver, not a doer.
