Apple is making macOS 27 Golden Gate and iPadOS 27 available beginning Sept. 14, 2026. Review this guidance before updating your Mac or iPad.
macOS 27 Golden Gate
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has been testing beta versions of macOS 27 Golden Gate and will continue testing the release with Shenandoah University systems and applications, including Google Drive, Canvas, ExamSoft Examplify, SPSS, Hornet Hub and the university's wireless network.
Important: Do not update your Mac to macOS 27 Golden Gate until OIT confirms compatibility with Shenandoah systems and applications. Updating early could cause issues that prevent you from completing school or work activities.
OIT will notify the Shenandoah community when testing confirms that the update is compatible with university systems and applications.
iPadOS 27
Before updating to iPadOS 27, check with the developers of applications that are critical to your school or work activities to confirm compatibility with the new operating system.
Examplify users: Do not update to iPadOS 27 until ExamSoft confirms that Examplify is compatible.
If you decide to update, first back up your iPad using Finder on your Mac or iCloud Backup. Software vendors may release compatibility updates after the initial operating system launch.
