Installing and Using the SU VPN

Note: VPN access is provided on a limited basis and requires Office of Information Technology approval. If you have not yet received approval for access, please submit your request here.

Installing the VPN app

1. Open a web browser and enter https://vpn.su.edu.
2. Log in with your SUnet credentials (email address and password you use for Hornet Hub, Canvas, etc).
3. Select the download that is applicable to your device (Mac or Windows). 
4. Once downloaded, navigate to your download folder or the location where you downloaded the installer to and double-click it to run the installer.
5. Go through the installer and ensure that GlobalProtect is checked and click continue.
6. Click install and the VPN client will be installed.
7. When the System Extension Blocked window appears click “Open security preferences."
8. Once security preferences opens, click "Allow.
9. When prompted enter `vpn.su.edu` into the portal field and click sign in. 

Connnecting to the VPN

1. To connect to the VPN any time after the initial installation:
2. Click the globe displayed in your menu bar in the top right (Mac) or in your System Tray (Windows).
3. Enter the Portal Address (if Prompt): vpn.su.edu
4. Enter your SUnet username and password and click sign-in.
